An Evening on the Art of Taxidermy
Join The Wired Lab for a talk that educates attendees on the gothic and exotic art of taxidermy, it’s history, and some of the practicalities on how it’s done.
The Wired Lab introduces Natalie Delaney-John from Rest in Pieces. Natalie has traveled extensively to learn the art of taxidermy and has been mentored by some of the world’s best and most awarded taxidermists. Now an award-winning taxidermist herself, she is the proud founder of Rest in Pieces, which launched Australia’s first taxidermy workshop, talks and DIY Taxidermy Revival Kits.
Rest in Pieces has been featured on SBS, ABC and Channel 10 television, in print in the Age and the Guardian and regularly appears on-air with both local and national radio stations.
In this two hour long exploration, the audience will be given an introductory talk about the history, process, and ethics of taxidermy, and Nat will cover the questions she is more frequently asked about her craft.
This will be followed by a 30 minute skinning demonstration, which showcases some of taxidermy’s beauty live, followed by a 30-minute Q&A for participants to delve deeper into understanding this unique art.
