Radio Roulette
ARTLANDS, 27th-30th of October 2016
Commissioned for the ARTLANDS Dubbo festival and projected to tour nationally in 2017/18. Radio Roulette is a wild, live non-stop event that attempts to understand the entire world through amateur radio. It provides audiences with the chance to meet HAM radio club members and make connections with others around the globe. Ham Radio is a movement established in over a century ago to communicate over radio waves. This pursuit of contact is unpredictable and championed by devoted hobbyists. Audiences watch connections happen live, as the Radio Roulette hosts gather local knowledge about each place of contact. Presented as either a durational work or a 45-minute show, audiences can participate in or simply witness the gripping pursuit of pre-internet communication.
