‘The Edge’ Cootamundra, Tumut & Temora, 2016-2017
‘The Edge’ – Phase 1 in Tumut NSW has commenced
‘The Edge’ is a twelve month skills development project for young people (aged 13 -17 & 18-25) living in the small rural communities of Tumut, Temora and Cootamundra who will work with contemporary Australian photographer Tamara Dean. On September 27th 2016, the initial workshop phase commenced with a selection of young people from the Snowy Valley’s Shire (Tumut & surrounds) learning various photographic techniques while working with Tamara to document their interactions in natural sites of recreation.
During 2017, the 2nd phase of the project, creative outcomes such as any participant works and Tamara’s work specific to each community, will be presented at significant community events in each locality via methods such as exhibition, projection and screening. In October 2017 there will be a large culminating exhibition combining all localities (Tumut, Temora and Cootamundra) and their participants at The Wired Lab’s Biennial ‘Wired Open Day’ event.
