THE WIRED LAB is an artist led organisation evolving interdisciplinary art practices in rural Australia. We create opportunities for the research, production and presentation of projects that connect international and local artists with communities in new ways. Our curated programs and projects involve artists working from a regional context whilst producing outcomes of local and global relevance. Our activities range from skills development for young people, seniors, emerging and mid career artists, to the creation, presentation, publication and promotion of new works and major live arts projects.

Box Gum Grassy Woodlands, Listening Post

A commission for the ARTLANDS Dubbo festival, these audio field recordings of Box Gum Grassy Woodlands – an endangered habitat endemic throughout much of South Eastern Australia, invites you to close your eyes and listen to audio field recordings of Box Gum Grassy Woodlands – an endangered habitat endemic throughout much of NSW, including the Dubbo region.

These field recordings are a short selection of a long-term project by The Wired Lab documenting the acoustic ecology of  Box Gum Grassy Woodlands, one of Australia’s natural icons. Realign your mind through the art of mindfully listening to the environment.

Several hours of recordings were edited to produce

two sound pieces:

> Box Gum Grassy Woodlands – Rivulet

> Box Gum Grassy Woodlands – Sunset Chorus

These recordings are available for free download at: sound cloud
