THE WIRED LAB is an artist led organisation evolving interdisciplinary art practices in rural Australia. We create opportunities for the research, production and presentation of projects that connect international and local artists with communities in new ways. Our curated programs and projects involve artists working from a regional context whilst producing outcomes of local and global relevance. Our activities range from skills development for young people, seniors, emerging and mid career artists, to the creation, presentation, publication and promotion of new works and major live arts projects.

Robin Fox residency

1st – 7th November 2008

Robin Fox artist residency to work with David Burraston and Alan Lamb to investigate  oscilloscope based visualizations  of the wires and the creation of a digital interface for controlling oscilloscope laser system(s) from wire dynamics. Aside from much discussion about the non-linear complexities of the wire and its sounds, we also experimented with different surfaces to project and test laser and wire audio visualizations. Weather worn corregated iron farm buildings provided a fascinating textural projection surface (see photo), but the big breakthrough was projecting the laser light through rainfall, a natural event with complexity much like the wire sounds. These water investigations were further investigated in a 2009 residency.

A blog entry by Robin Fox detailing residency investigations can be found here.
