Oren Ambarchi & Robin Fox Residency 2009
28th August – 1st September
This residency also included WIRED Lab’s permanent residents Sarah Last and David Burratson. This residency marked Robin’s third at WIRED Lab, and Ambarchi’s first contact with the WIRED Lab wires. A primary goal of this residency was to prepare for the WIRED Open Day concert on October 31st 2009. For Fox this meant further experimentation of simulating rain fall via water spray, and using the H20 as a surface for his laser oscilloscope projections. We subsequently spent a lot of our nights down at the dam with a fuel powered fire pump! With the long form quality of Ambarchi’s work it was not surprising that he was interested in further investigating the reverb and delay qualities of the wires. Enduring icy winds Ambarchi and Burraston dismantled a home stereo and started playing tracks into the wires, this creating layer upon layer of rich Ambarchi and aeollian tones.
This residency made us all really excited about WIRED Open Day!
