Jeff Henderson residency
May 4th – 9th 2009
A Jazz maestro Jeff Henderson (NZ) has played with some of the worlds greats such as William Parker and Marilyn Crispell. Known for gigging with his handmade instruments such as a cigar box guitar, leaf ‘instruments’ and banjo, Henderson also has a healthy appetite for the satirical improvisation of music and instruments that traverses musical boundaries. Jeff had much fun exploring the æolian qualities of the wires with his wind instruments, we hope to have him back for a longer residency where he can bring his banjo and explore the ‘stringed’ qualities of the wires.
During his residency Jeff also performed during ‘Bald Archies’ opening night on 7th May, and taught an all ages DIY instrument making workshop from found objects on 9th May at the Museum of the Riverina in Wagga Wagga. More information and photos can be found here.
